Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ismail, performed on Wednesday Eid-al-Adha prayer at Ahl Fez mosque in Rabat.
Upon his arrival at the mosque, HM the King was greeted by the Prime Minister, the Speakers of the two Houses of Parliament, HM the King’s advisors, Government members, the high commissioners, the president of the Supreme Court, the public prosecutor at this Court, the president of the Constitutional Council, the president of the national audit, the president of the Royal Advisory Council for Sahara affairs, the heads of the royal cabinets, Senior officers of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the director general of national security, the director general of Studies and Documentation and the Wali of Rabat-Salé-Zemmour Zaer.
Following Eid al-Adh's prayer, the Monarch was greeted by heads of Islamic diplomatic missions accredited in Morocco.
Subsequently, HM the King performed the ram sacrifice ritual.
At the end of this ceremony, the Sovereign received the congratulations of Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ismail.
HM the King was also congratulated by the Prime Minister, the Speakers of the two Houses of parliament, HM the King's advisors, members of government, heads of royal cabinets, the Monarch’s sons-in-law, senior officers of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces and other civil and military officials.
HM the King visits National Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Taounate
Mezraoua - HM King Mohammed VI visited, on Tuesday, the National Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (INPMA) located in the rural commune of Mezraoua (Taounate province).
- The institute, first of its kind in Africa, aims at promoting specialized training and national expertise in the field of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants.
On this occasion, the Monarch was informed about the activities of this scientific institute, created in 2007 with the mission to implement the national strategy in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants and carry out research projects in this area.
INPMA, the first of its kind in Africa, is aimed at promoting projects at regional and national levels, specialized training and national expertise in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants.
Carried out over an area of 25 ha by the Education and Scientific Research Ministry, the institute includes, among others, testing laboratories, a growth room, a store of chemical production, a cold room and a conference room.
Since its creation, INPMA signed several partnership agreements with national and international organizations such as the European Union and many universities and research centers across the world.
HM the King enquires, launches agricultural projects in Taounate province
Mezraoua - HM King Mohammed VI enquired and launched, on Tuesday in the rural commune of Mezraoua (Taounate province), several agricultural projects, worth 1.752 billion dirhams.
- The Sovereign launches hydro-agricultural development project in Sahla perimeter, worth 553 million dirhams.
- Hydro-agricultural development project of Bouhouda perimeter spans over 2,000 ha and costs 460 million dirhams.
- The Sovereign enquires about tree planting development program in the province, at a cost of 700 million dirhams.
Part of Morocco Green plan, these projects aim at promoting olive, fig and almond trees as well as hydro-agricultural development of perimeters near Bouhouda and Sahla dams to contribute to enhancing production, increasing productivity, preserving water resources and improving incomes and the population’s living conditions.
On this occasion, the Sovereign launched the hydro-agricultural development project in Sahla irrigation perimeter, worth 553 million dirhams, funded by the European Union in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and beneficiaries.
HM the King also followed a presentation on the hydro-agricultural development project of Bouhouda irrigation perimeter. It is spanned over 2,000 ha and costs 460 million dirhams.
Benefiting 1,480 farmers, this project provides for building water intakes on Bouhouda dam, intake pipe, irrigation network on 94 km and an internal and external sewerage network (86 km).
The Monarch enquired about the tree planting development program in the province of Taounate, which is funded through Morocco-US cooperation (Millennium Challenge Account), for a total cost of 700 million dirhams.
The program benefits 17,000 farmers in 32 rural communes on a total area of 34,545 hectares.
On this occasion, the Sovereign was informed about an integrated project to produce olive oil and dried figs on an area of 263 ha, worth 39 million dirhams.
The project is intended to plant olive trees on 200 hectares and fig trees on 25 hectares, create a unit for extracting olive oil with a capacity of 40 tons/day and a unit of drying figs with a capacity of 5 tons/day.
HM the King pardons 184 convicts on Eid-al-Adha
Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI pardoned 184 convicts on occasion of Eid-al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), Justice Ministry said, on Tuesday, in a statement.
Six inmates benefited from the pardon over their remaining prison term, while 96 others had their prison term reduced.
Twenty people were granted pardon over their prison sentences, and six inmates benefited from a pardon over imprisonment terms while fines against them were maintained, the same source said.
A prisoner was granted pardon over his imprisonment term and had his fine annulled, while fines against 55 convicts were suspended.
