Barid Al Maghrib is a state owned institution created in 1998 following the coming into force of the 24-96 law and the separation of the Post and telecommunications sectors. Being a legal entity, this public institution, which enjoys financial autonomy, is under the state’s supervision.

Basic infrastructures are the backbone of economic growth and development. This explains why they are among the highest priorities of the government.

In fact, all the commercial and touristic activities of the country depend on the construction, extension and the improvement of roads. Therefore, the Ministry of Equipment and Transport is making all efforts to achieve a modern basic infrastructure, facilitating the local, regional and international exchanges and ensuring the fluid, comfortable and safe movement of goods and people.

The Casablanca Stock Market capitalization progressed by 78,79% to stand at MAD 206.52 billion on December 31^st , 2004 against 115.51 billion in 2003. Therefore, it accounts for 47% of Morocco’s GDP (against 27% in 2003).  53 companies are quoted on the stock market.

The development of the quality of weather prevision forecast is a priority for the CNRM. Many projects are underway in order to ensure this development  and are responsible for the different services of this center . This was possible thanks to the achievements realized during the period 1990-1995 which concern the means and structures of  development and high  level scientific  competence.
The main activities conducted in the CNRM are:
Numerical prediction:
This is to adapt the model limited area forecast called aladin in Morocco . Also, Albachir, a numerical model providing reliable forecasts in the short term appeared.
 
The goal is reached and the model Albachir, fine mesh (16km),  Which developed in collaboration with France and other countries of Eastern Europe currently provides forecasts up to 48 hours with two times a day. To do this, the DMN has a high standard level of informatics.
