Ghellab, who was speaking at the meeting of traffic safety inter-ministerial committee, chaired by Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, said ten decrees and 104 decisions by the Transport Ministry on the implementation of the Highway Code provisions were approved.
He added that special attention was given to the development of computer systems that would facilitate the administrative procedure for road users and the use of new technologies to exchange information between administrations to ensure a swift and efficient implementation of this Code, a statement by the Prime Minister's Office said.
As for roadside inspection, he said a complement monitoring system, worth 920 million dirhams, was set up to back the national strategy for the fight against road accidents.
On awareness-raising, Ghellab recalled the communication plan announced last February which comprises radio and TV commercials and meetings with representatives of civil society and professional bodies on the new Code's provisions.
He recalled also efforts made by his Ministry as part of upgrading road infrastructure, mainly increasing the budget for road signage.
