The cooperation accord is highly important since Tangier-Med port, situated in a strategic location, will target an important traffic from Asia in destination to the American continent.
The port's particular position on the Straits of Gibraltar, at the crossing of two major maritime routes, and 15km from the European Union will enable it to serve a market of hundreds of millions of consumers through the industrial and commercial free zones.
The accord was signed in Tangier by president of the Tangier-Med agency (TMSA) board of directors, Said El-Hadi, and president managing director of Baltimore port, Brooks Royster.
This initiative came part of the cultural event April Seminar, organized by the museum of the American legation in Tangier.
Royster said such accords constitute to Baltimore port a "reference for cooperation" with different ports in the world and an engagement for a good management of trade exchanges and sea traffic.
Baltimore port, among the best port platforms in the eastern coast of the United States, has concluded 11 cooperation and twinning accords with large international ports.
The Tangier-Med project is a strategic priority for the economic and social development of Northern Morocco. The TMSA, set up in September 2002, is in charge of this important project.
