Speaking to MAP on the sidelines of the upgrading of a classroom in a primary school in Rabat, Kaplan said that the US will continue deepening a centuries-old friendship with Morocco, a country that is an ally of the US in comabtting terrorism.
This symbolic community work, in which volunteers from the US Embassy and Association Rikab for development and communication took part, falls within the framework of the commemoration of the bloody September 11 attacks.
Kaplan noted that this “great tragedy” has led to deepening relations between Morocco and the US, voicing satisfaction over “the good understanding” between the two countries about “the threats of terrorism to the world.”
On this occasion, the US diplomat paid tribute to the thousands of innocent people who were killed in 9/11,“one of the worst days in human history.”
“When time passes we may forget the evil of that day, but we will never forget the heroism shown by firemen, policemen and other volunteers,” said the US Ambassador, expressing pride regarding the patriotism evinced by the passengers who took a plane down to protect their capital.
Kaplan said that the US will remember “the friendship of the peoples of the world who said this was a terrible act and we stand together against the evil that has been committed.”
