Arab League adopts Morocco's rights proposal
The Arab League Council adopted on Wednesday a Moroccan draft plan aimed at upholding human rights in the Arab world.

The proposal, which was adopted at the Council 133rd ordinary session, was mapped out on the basis of a participative approach involving experts and representatives from the Arab League state members.

The plan mirrors the strides made by the Kingdom in the promotion of human rights. It will be launched next year after its adoption in the Arab League Council's summit.

It seeks to raise people's awareness and disseminate measures for human rights protection.

Spanning the 2011-2015 period, the project aspires to encourage the countries to observe their commitments vis-à-vis international standards in this field, and address the issues of poverty, starvation, illiteracy, armed conflicts and debts.
