Speaking at the 48th high-level series of meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Naciri added that the economic and social development of a given country and the safeguarding of its rich cultural heritage require an international legal protection of genetic resources and traditional cultural expressions.
The Moroccan official said that Morocco aspires to see an end, as soon as possible, to misappropriation and misuse of human values and genetic heritage that provide a livelihood to many artists and craftsmen.
The Moroccan delegation fully supports the proposals of the African Group to ensure better international protection of their wealth, he said.
Naciri also urged the other member states to overcome divisions that currently exist within the different WIPO committees.
