Brussels reaffirms support for Morocco's reforms, European Commissioner
The European Commissioner Stefan Fule  European Union Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule reiterated, on Monday, the support of the European Union for the process of reforms undertaken by Morocco.

Speaking at the end of talks, in Rabat, with Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, Fule said that his visit to the Kingdom, which comes one year after Morocco-EU Summit, held in Spain, is an opportunity to assess with Moroccan officials and civil society representatives the achievements made since that meeting.

The two parties also discussed several issues, including the agreements already signed or under negotiation, as well as the events in Egypt and Tunisia, the European official noted.

For his part, El Fassi said the talks focused on cooperation relations between Morocco and the EU and other issues relating to the consolidation of the freedom of the press, human rights and democracy, in addition to the adequacy, in the medium-term, of Moroccan and European legislations.

During this meeting, the Moroccan Prime Minister highlighted the various reforms undertaken in Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

The two sides also tackled the various agreements relating to the citrus industry and fisheries sector, said El Fassi, adding that the EU proposes to extend for one year these agreements with a view to agreeing on a new version.

The Premier also reviewed the latest developments in the national cause, stressing that Morocco has achieved its territorial integrity step by step and recovered its southern provinces as part of international legality.

The European Commissioner voiced hope to see the parties reach a win-win peaceful political solution, said El Fassi.

“The EU is well aware that the conflict is between Morocco and Algeria," underlined El Fassi, noting that the Union “examines the possibility of bringing together the views of the two countries.”
