Constitutional reform in Morocco to concern various areas -official
Abdeltif Mennouni, whom HM King Mohammed VI appointed as head of the ad hoc committee for the revision of the Constitution, Abdeltif Mennouni, whom HM King Mohammed VI appointed as head of the ad hoc committee for the revision of the Constitution, said on Thursday in Rabat, that the cosntituational reform the Monarch called for will touch on various, wide-ranging areas.

"This reform will be carried out in consultation with political parties, trade unions, civil society and youth organizations, associations and scientific community," Mennouni, also member of the Advisory Committee on Regionalisation (CCR), said at a joint press briefing with the CCR's president, Omar Azziman.

He added that the hoc committee for the revision of the Constitution will not only seek these entities' views, but will also consult with them to come up with the desired solutions.

Mennouni pointed out that "the reform meets the essential demands, such as enshrining in the Constitution the Justice and Reconciliation Commission's recommendations, ensuring the independence of the judiciary and a democratic, responsible government, and the establishment of regionalisation," which is, he said, "an unprecedented reform in the history of the idnependent Morocco."
