In this respect, the appointment of only one woman in the government shall enable other primary appointments. In this regard, the minster declared in an interview with “Al Massae” newspaper on Monday edition that women will be assigned to positions of Wali and Governor.
She stated that the Justice and Development Party (PJD), led the pack of the 2011 legislatives with 107 parliamentary seats, and has operated a democratic approach as far as the ministerial appointments are concerned. Consequently, the process has resulted in the establishment of only one woman in the government, approved by all the members.
She also stated that, other political parties had proposed women candidates, whose affinities with other departments were perhaps not adequate.
To remedy the situation, the next step shall be the introduction of candidates for senior positions in various sectors, she advised.
Sectors as childhood, family, fight against poverty and insecurity have frequently been held by women. She also argued that a minister "is a political function unrelated to gender, academic or professional background that it is desirable".
Ms. Hakkoui emphasized that priority should be given to all the files submitted to her department. However, the focus is rather the employment of disabled people, though it is not within her ministry’s competencies.
Now, in regard to the phenomena of begging and single mothers, the Minister voiced a willingness to adopt a participatory approach and to ensure cross-treatment of these issues.
