EFE news agency misleads Spanish press into defaming Morocco, Spanish paper says

Spanish official news agency "EFE" has, once more, misled the Iberian media into defaming Morocco, revealing a "strong will of misinformation", said Spanish electronic newspaper "Andalus-Press", on Friday.

"EFE" published a photo of hospitalized children with head injuries, which was later circulated by major Spanish newspapers, claiming that they were "victims of Morocco's repression", while, in reality, the picture was of children of Gaza, who were victims of the Israeli aggression in 2006, "Andalus-Press" underlined.

The head of the photos division in EFE, Rosario Pons, told Andalus-Press that the agency does not have any photographer in Laayun and that it relied on websites and blogs of so-called "Sahrawi militants" to get pictures for its cover stories.

The Madrid-based newspaper said having contacted Spanish media outlets, which all confirmed that EFE is the source of the photo.
Several Spanish daily newspapers published the "false" picture, like "El Pais" and "EL Mundo", in addition to electronic newspapers like "El Semanal Digital".

Morocco's Communication Ministry denounced, on Friday, the practices of animosity and falsification of facts by some Spanish correspondents in Morocco while covering Laayun's vandalism acts.
