The year 2009 saw huge headway in bilateral relations, especially at the political level through enhanced political dialogue, the completion of negotiations on trade issues, the EU-Morocco Lisbon summit, and the creation of a joint committee composed of European officials and Moroccan MPs, he told a news conference on Wednesday.
"Morocco and the EU set important objectives of promoting ties. It is the first step on the path of achieving the aims of the advanced status concluded with Morocco in 2008," he said.
Landaburu added that the advanced status defined the two sides' willingness to enhance relations in various fields, particularly in the economic area.
He also noted that the two parties have considered means to boost bilateral negotiations, adding that a meeting will be held next week between the two sides on this matter.
