It is a "very important summit," since it is the first of its kind between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union, the Spanish top diplomat added in an interview published Sunday by Spanish daily "EL PAIS".
Moratinos said the importance of the meeting, to be held under the Spanish chairmanship of the EU during the first semester the coming year, stems mainly from its positive impact in bringing together North Africa and Europe.
The EU presidency had announced that Morocco and the EU will hold their first summit in 2010.
Frank Belfarge of Sweden which holds the Presidency of the EU had underlined during the works of the 8th session of the Moroccan-EU Association Council that this summit reflects “the importance given by the two countries to the consolidation of their bilateral relations.”
