Speaking at the House of Representatives' question time, Fassi Fihri said that to address the issue of the increasing Algerian boats entering the Kingdom's territorial waters during a specific period of time, the Moroccan authorities took, with responsibility and moderation, the usual measures which are demanding explanations from the Algerian party on the causes of such incursions.
He added that, upon HM King Mohammed VI's instructions, he held talks over the phone with his Algerian peer in order to draw his attention to this situation and demand explanations.
He recalled that the Moroccan Interior ministry issued on February 28 a crystal clear statement about the issue.
Following the official initiatives, the Algerian party admitted such breaches, he said, noting that the Algerian Foreign ministry gave, via Morocco's embassy in Algeria, explanations about 37 fishing boats, among which 9 set sail from Algerian ports, namely the Ghazouate, and Marsate Larbi Ben Mhidi ports, while the others entered the Moroccan territorial waters via international waters.
The minister underlined that the two cases are being investigated to determine the nature of these offenses.
