Held under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the event opened in the presence of Morocco's Agriculture Minister, Aziz Akhannouch.
After following a message from HM the King to the symposium, a series of agreements were signed, which aim to contribute to achieving Morocco's Green Plan.
Thus, a 2011-2020 programme contract was signed between the government and the organic farming sector to improve productivity and competitiveness of the sector on the national and international markets.
Another 2011-2020 programme contract was signed between the government and the Moroccan Interprofessional Federation of Beekeeping sector on the development of the activity.
A similar document was inked between the government and the Moroccan Interprofessional Federation of the Argan sector to promote the Argan tree. The programme contract is meant to rehabilitate 200,000 hectares of the Argan tree, increase production of Argan oil and defend the uniqueness of Morocco’s Argan label and all of its products and by-products on the international market.
Other programme contracts were concluded between the government and the Interprofessional Federation of the cameline, the Interprofessional Federation of the poultry sector and the development federation of arboriculture. These contracts are meant to develop these different agricultural activities.
The government also signed a partnership agreement with the Crédit du Maroc, under which the bank will raise a budget of 4 billion dirhams over 5 years to support Morocco’s Green Plan.
It also inked an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), under which the Agency grants Morocco a 54.7 million dirham donation, devoted to mobilizing Japanese experts for technical assistance in water conservation in the irrigated area of Abda Doukkala and equipping a drip-irrigation project.
