France encourages parties to resume negotiations on Sahara issue
France, a permanent member in the UN Security Council, on Wednesday called on the parties involved in the Sahara issue to resume negotiations under the aegis of the United Nations.

France, a permanent member in the UN Security Council, on Wednesday called on the parties involved in the Sahara issue to resume negotiations under the aegis of the United Nations.

"France has always been convinced of the necessity to find a solution to the Sahara issue under the auspices of the UN and in the spirit of the UNSC resolutions 1813 and 1871," spokesperson of the French Foreign ministry said in an answer to a question of the Spanish press about the issue of Aminatou Haidar.

"We encourage the parties to resume negotiations. The persistence of the blockade is in the interest of no party," he added.
