Autonomy initiative is a good basis for negotiations on Sahara issue, German deputy
German deputy and chairman of the Friends of Morocco in Germany Association Jurgen Klimke The autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco is a good basis for the negotiations aimed at finding a final and negotiated political solution to the Sahara conflict, said, on Tuesday in Dakhla, German deputy and chairman of the Friends of Morocco in Germany Association Jurgen Klimke.

"Morocco is a strategic partner for Germany and Europe which support and back its efforts meant to settle this conflict," noted Klimke who is on a three-day visit to Dakhla, leading a delegation of the Association.

In a statement to the press following a meeting with Wali of the Oued-Eddahab-Lagouira region, Hamid Chabar, he noted that this initiative will contribute to reinforcing local development and peace in the whole region.

Klimke highlighted "Morocco's important and vital role in the Maghreb, the Mediterranean region and Africa," adding that the north African region is a beacon and an example to follow.

He added that Dakhla offers potentialities and conditions favourable for sustainable development, underlining the climate of stability and peace prevailing in the region.

Klimke said that this visit is part of reinforcing the relations of exchange and cooperation between Germany and Morocco.
