Speaking at the House of Advisors' question time, the Minister said these measures provides mainly for reviewing the law on free prices and competition, the increasing of fines in case of breaches, and imposing more practical and repressive administrative sanctions.
Baraka also stressed the draft law on Consumer Protection, currently under review, which is expected to reinforce the juridical arsenal on the matter, and help protect the purchasing power. This policy, he recalled, helped better master prices compared to 2008, noting that during the 11 months of 2009, the increase in prices did not go beyond 1.5 %.
