  Government committed to meet demands of major unions- PM says
Government committed to meet demands of major unions The government is open and committed to meeting the demands of the major unions, said Monday in Rabat, Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, stressing the government's readiness to ensure the success of the current round of social dialogue.
 

 The prime minister, who presided over the opening of the dialgoue's spring session, which included representatives from most major unions and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), highlighted several measures undertaken by the government in response to union demands expressed in the social dialogue, the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.

In this respect, El Fassi shed light on measures aiming at improving citizens’ purchasing power by increasing the revenue of all civil servants and the employees’of the public and private sectors.

El Fassi added that these measures also include increasing the budget of the compensation fund to preserve the purchasing power of citizens, doubling the investment budget, providing medical coverage, accelerating the implementation pace of major projects and sector-based policies, promoting the employment of young graduates and supporting the creation of enterprises.

At this meeting, delegations from unions discussed several issues including wage increases, notably the minimum wage (SMIC), the integration of youth, respecting the work code, freedom of the unions, the reform of retirement plans, collective agreements, special promotions, sector-based dialogue and the development of legislation for trade union strikes.

The president of CGEM, for his part, highlighted the imortance of social dialogue, particularly the commitment of his union to social peace with the Moroccan company and his determination to work on a comprehensive approach to the generalization of collective agreements in all sectors, the source added.
