The two top officials, who gave a presentation on the results of the Summit before the weekly cabinet meeting, commended the international event which was marked by a royal message mapping commitments, programs and ambitions, Communication minister, government spokesperson Khalid Naciri said at a press briefing.
The Summit's final joint statement shows this success since it recalls the forum's uniqueness and lays down the road map to reinforce the advanced status granted by the EU to Morocco in 2008, the two officials said.
They voiced the Kingdom's satisfaction with the Summit upshot which crowns the long process undertaken to bring the parties closer. They also hailed the mutual trust that distinguished the event attended notably by European Council President Herman M. Van Rompuy, European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, and Spanish President José Luis Zapatero whose country assumes the EU's rotating presidency.
They stressed that the parties share views in many areas, mainly the values of democracy, noting that the north African country and the Union's 27 member states reiterated their common will to build an economic zone favoring the Moroccan economy's gradual integration into the European economy.
