Faced with Israeli authorities’ obstinacy, the Arab countries "have to consider how best to defend the national interests of the Palestinian people," Fassi Fihri told Morocco's MAP news agency on the sidelines of his participation in the meeting of the Arab Monitoring Committee (Arab Peace Initiative).
"The Arab countries should, in the weeks to come, undertake efficient actions and initiatives beneficial to the rights of the Palestinian people and its legitimate claims,” he said.
The ministerial meeting, chaired by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim, was attended by President of the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, and the new Secretary General of the Arab League, Nabil El Arabi.
The meeting focused on measures to support the Arab diplomatic action on the international stage and the prospects for the recognition of the State of Palestine and its UN membership.
