 HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated, on Thursday in the rural commune of Tazaghine (province of northeastern town of Driouch), a project to develop and build facilities that will improve the working conditions of the fishermen of Sidi Hsain port.

HM the King Congratulates Mohand Laenser on his Re-election as SG of Popular Movement Party
Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to Mohand Laenser following his re-election as secretary general of the Popular Movement Party (MP).
    In this message, the sovereign expressed to Laenser his heartfelt congratulations for the trust the Party's activists placed in him, and wished him success in his mission as a leader of the Party.

    The monarch hailed Laenser's attachment to the sacred and immutable values of the Nation, his human qualities and political competence which rise to the expectations of the Party's members of marking the national political landscape. HM the King also said the SG's qualities will give momentum to the Party's members who will "actively contribute to the march of unity, democracy and development, spearheaded by Us, in symbiosis with all the Nation's components."

    The sovereign asked Laenser to assure the Party's members of the royal solicitude, commending Mahjoubi Aherdane on his qualities, unfailing attachment to the Alaouite throne, steadfast patriotism, unforgettable fight for Morocco's independence, sovereignty and unity, and actions to promote the Party.  

    Thanks to this outstanding career Aherdane has been given by the Party the prestigious status of founding president, said the message, adding that Aherdane is deemed one the prominent political leaders who have marked the history of Morocco.

   Worth some 4.5 million dirhams ($ 495,000), the project was carried out on an area of 5000 square meters as part of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), launched in mid-2005 to fight against poverty and social exclusion.

    It is meant to modernize the equipment of small-scale fishing and develop related activities.

    The project, which will benefit some 57 people, provides for the construction of 56 shops for fishermen, 18 local snacks, commercial spaces, restaurants, and other facilities.

HM the King Offers Condolences to Turkish President on Freedom Flotilla Victims

Istanbul - HM King Mohammed VI offered his condolences to Turkish President Abdullah Gul on the death of Turkish citizens, victims of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza-bound humanitarian Flotilla.
   This came in a written message handed on Thursday in Istanbul by Morocco's Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri to Abdullah Gul, during a meeting held on the sidelines of the Arab-Turkish Ministerial Forum.

      Fassi Fihri told MAP that in the message "HM the King offers the condolences and solidarity of the Moroccan people with the Turkish people following the Israeli aggression against the international humanitarian Flotilla, during which Turkish citizens were killed." 

    He added that the meeting was an opportunity for the two parties to "welcome the excellent bilateral relations and development of economic exchanges in recent years, as well as the convergence of views on issues related to the Middle-East, the European Union and Africa."
