The king expressed to Mubarak, and through him to the Egyptian people, his "great joy at the outstanding achievement of the Egyptian national soccer squad, by deservingly winning the 27th Africa Cup of Nations, for the third successive time."
HM King Mohammed VI also offered "heartfelt congratulations" to the president, the people and all the components of the national team, players and coach, commending the great performance of the players and the spirit of competitiveness they showed.
The message said Morocco shares feelings of pride taken in this seventh achievement at continental level, which confirms the leadership standing of the Egyptian football in Africa.
The monarch voiced heartfelt wishes for further achievements for Egypt’s sports in continental and international competitions.
The Egyptian squad defeated Ghana on Sunday 1-0 in the last few minutes in a tense final, while Nigeria ranked third ahead of Algeria.
