These projects, which put the human element at the heart of their priorities to achieve sustainable development, are implemented within a partnership between, several government departments, the private sector, and local civil society.
The projects include equipment, investment and social aspects.
The first aspect aims at upgrading urban and rural centers in the Rehamna region over the period 2008-2011.
The project involves the upgrading of the urban municipality of Benguerir and five rural centers through building infrastructure, developing socio-economic and educational structures and green spaces.
The project also provides for constructing 11 earth dams to preserve ground water and protect certain centers against the risk of flooding.
Concerning the second aspect, it pertains to the creation of sheep-breeding groupings in Rehamna for the period 2009-2011, and the establishment of small businesses to fight poverty and encourage micro-credit activities.
As for the social aspect, it provides for setting up community schools in six rural communes to fight school drop-out, promoting vocational training in favor of non-schooled children and upgrading the health sector.
HM the King followed explanations on a project to establish, in Marrakesh, dormitories to house students coming from the Rehamna region.
The facility, which will be built on an area of 5,600 sq meters, will have 106 rooms with a capacity of 424 beds.
The Monarch followed a presentation on a project to build a new urban center in Benguerir, benefiting 90,000 people.
The project, which will be implemented in three phases during the period 2010-2021, promotes sustainable development, environmental and ecosystem protection and water and energy saving.
HM the King enquired about the integrated agricultural development project, part of Morocco’s Green Plan.
The project aims at improving the living conditions of small farmers and preserving natural resources. It is meant to develop the region’s water resources, diversify local products and promote income-generating activities.
The Sovereign inaugurated the extension project of Benguerir’s vocational training Institute. This project, carried out on an area of 900 sq meters, is to strengthen the system of vocational training in the region and support the local development.
HM the King laid the foundation stone for the construction of a boarding school within the Institute benefiting students living in remote areas.
The Monarch handed over the keys of shops benefitting young developers as part of the programme to develop and equip a commercial activity zone in the city of Benguerir.
