  HM King Mohammed VI launches construction works of car processing terminal in Casablanca port

 HM King Mohammed VI launched, on Monday in Casablanca port, the construction works of a terminal specialised in car processing and storage worth 150 million dirhams ($ 18 mln dollars).

 

    The Sovereign was given, on this occasion, detailed explanations on this project which is part of efforts aiming at meeting the growing demand for vehicles.

    Built over a 75,000m2 area, the new terminal will increase the number of cars passing through the port from 2,000 currently to 5,000.

    The new facility will have a storage capacity of 100,000 cars annually.

    The number of cars passing through the port of Casablanca (import-export) increases annually by 12%, rising from 49,000 cars in 2005 to 76,000 cars in 2009.

    The exported cars are shipped to the markets of Egypt (39%), Turkey (17%), Germany (17%), France (13%), Spain (7%), and other markets (7%).
