To be built on 496ha, the project is expected to generate 5 billion dirhams of investments and create 20,000 jobs. Along with the industrial park of Selouane and the Berkane Agropole, the project is part of the "MED EST" pole, the regional component of the Emergence strategy.
Presenting the project before HM the king, Ahmed Reda Chami, minister of industry, trade and new technologies, said the Techno pole is consistent with the Royal Initiative for the development of the eastern region, launched in the royal speech of March 18 in Oujda.
He noted that a steering committee was created to ensure the good governance and effective coordination and implementation of the project. The committee will define a Moroccan offer for investors in sectors related to renewable energies.
The project, whose 429-million dirham first phase is due to be completed by December on 107 ha, will be operational in March 2011.
HM the king presided, in June 2009, over the signing ceremony of an agreement on the promotion of the Oujda Techno pole project.
