HM the King chairs signing ceremony of agreement on financing Oujda-Nador expressway
Oujda - HM King Mohammed VI presided, on Wednesday in Oujda, over the signing ceremony of an agreement to finance Oujda-Nador expressway, worth 1.25 billion dirhams (1 MAD = 0.127143 USD).
 - The Sovereign enquires about a project to turn the road into a dual carriageway west of the city of Oujda for a total cost of 67 million dirhams. 

- The projects are aimed at improving the flow of traffic between towns and cities of the East.


    The agreement provides, among others, for turning the national road N2 linking Ahfir and Selouane into a dual carriageway on 83 kilometers and constructing a bypass in the city of Berkane on 14 kilometers.

    The project is meant to support major structural projects in the region (Oujda Technology Park, Selouane Industrial Park...) and improve the flow of traffic between towns and cities of the East.

    It will also facilitate access to Oujda-Angad and Nador-El Aroui airports, reduce costs and time of transporting agricultural products and improve the economic attractiveness of the region.

    The national expressway programme covers 1,055 kilometers of roads, for a total cost of 9.58 billion dirhams.

    Of the 1,055 km of roads, 650 km have already been achieved, 46 km are under construction and 359 km are in the planning stage.

   HM the King was also briefed on a project to turn the road into a dual carriageway west of the city of Oujda on 6.3 km.

   Worth some 67 million dirhams, this project will help relieve traffic congestion in Oujda and facilitate access to highway users coming from Saidia, Ahfir and Berkane.

Ahl Angad commune (Oujda) - HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated, on Wednesday in the rural commune of Ahl Angad, the Oujda's water purification plant carried out for 255 million dirhams (32.4 million dollars).
 -    The water purification plant is the largest at the national level.

-    The plant's building is part of a comprehensive water purification program worth 550 million dirhams.

    The Sovereign visited the facility meant to protect public health and the quality of underground and surface water, clean up wastewater in Bounaim River and save water through the re-use of purified wastewater to irrigate agricultural lands.

    Designed to offer services for 530,000 persons, the new plant will treat around 40,000 m3 of wastewater per day. 

    The facility, which uses an aerated lagoon system, is the largest at the national level (60 hectares). Its purification system includes pretreatment (screening and grit removal), primary treatment (10 anaerobic ponds), secondary treatment (12 aeration tanks) and tertiary treatment (21 maturation ponds).

     The construction of this station is part of a comprehensive water purification program worth 550 million dirhams.
