HM the King chairs signing ceremony of two agreements on Tangier-city port
HM King Mohammed VI chaired, on Wednesday in the northern city of Tangier, the signing ceremony of two agreements on redeveloping the port of Tangier city.

The first agreement touches on the capitalization of the development company, which is tasked with converting Tangier city port, while the second agreement concerns the redevelopment of the port's area.

In a presentation before HM the king, CEO of the development company Abdelouafi Laftit said the company's capital amounts to some 600 million dirhams ($73.3 million), adding that this project aims to make of Tangier-city port the biggest in the Mediterranean in terms of cruising and pleasure boating.

This ambitious project aims notably to boost the port's capacity to anchor passenger ships and pleasure boats, he said, noting that other areas will be devoted to fishing areas, residences and tourism and cultural activities.

By the end of the year, the company will submit to HM the King its architectural and environmental studies, Laftit said, adding that redeveloping Tangier-city port will be carried out in respect of the city’s environment and architecture.
