  HM the King chairs signing of urban development agreement in Figuig
 HM King Mohammed VI on Friday chaired the signing ceremony of a partnership agreement to implement the urban development programme of the southern province of Figuig, for a sum of 445 million dirhams ($57.6 million).
 

    The agreement outlines the financing terms and commitments of the different partners to the programme, which will benefit 130,000 people in Bouarfa and Figuig.
    The projects, which will be carried out as part of this progarmme, are aimed at re-structuring under-equipped neighbourhoods, re-housing Ksar Ayech's inhabitants, revamping the Ksours, upgrading the main roads and public places, and setting up social complexes.
    Spanning over the 2010-2013 period, the programme is part of the efforts aimed at solving the province's urban problems.
    The sovereign followed a presentation on the Al-Khyam neighbourhood's re-housing project, worth 94 million dirhams.
    The monarch also laid the foundation stone of a socio-cultural and educational complex. The project will cost 4 million dirhams.
