  HM the King enquires about Imilchil development and upgrading program

HM King Mohammed VI enquired on Saturday about the 2009-2011 development and upgrading program of Imilchil (Midelt province) worth over 105 million dirhams (13.7 million dollars).
 

    Carried out in partnership with several government departments mainly the Interior, the Housing and the Education ministries, the program benefits 33,000 people in Imilchil, Bouzmou, Outarbate, Ait Yahya and Amougar.
 
    The development program seeks to implement overhauling projects of Imilchil centers for 20.4 million dirhams, enhance pedagogical infrastructure (34.99 million dirhams), upgrade health establishments (8.39 million dirhams), and promote tourist facilities (10 million dirhams). It is also aimed at setting up socio-cultural institutions, stepping up income-generating agricultural activities and developing Imilchil road infrastructure.

    Details were given to the Sovereign on the Imilchil urban upgrading program which is meant to improve the population living conditions and boost the region's attractiveness.

    The Monarch followed a presentation on projects related to Imilchil's health sector, including the purchase of ambulances and mobile medical units, and the creation and extension of health centers.

    HM the King also enquired about Imilchil's program of broadening the scope of school education. It includes building four new schools and four dormitories, and setting up sixty-five classrooms, fifteen canteens and fourteen administrative offices.

    The program is designed to remedy the shortcomings of the educational system, improve student life and enhance pedagogical output and school's management method.    

     Regarding agriculture, the Sovereign was given details on the project of developing agricultural structures worth 7 million dirhams.  It is aimed at fighting poverty, diversifying rural population incomes and encouraging natural resources' sustainable management.

    The Monarch enquired also about the rural development project of the mountainous regions of Errachidia, Midelt and Tinghir. The project is funded mainly by Morocco and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

    HM the King followed a presentation on Errachidia and Midelt's fruit-tree growing development project. It is meant to ramp up the production of dates by 15%, and olives by 25%.
 
    HM the King enquired about the 2005-2009 projects of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) in the region. The Sovereign handed agricultural equipments worth 700,000 dirhams to the farmers.
