HM the King enquires about progress of programme to develop national athletics infrastructure
HM King Mohammed VI enquired on Saturday in the rural commune of Ait Kamra (province of Al Hoceima) about the progress of a programme to develop the national athletics infrastructure, worth 578 million dirhams.
- The Sovereign inaugurates Ait Kamra's athletics track, worth 19.5 million dirhams.
On this occasion, details were provided to HM the King on the programme which provides for the achievement by the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation of the international Mohammed VI athletics academy in Ifrane for 122 million dirhams, five athletics regional training centers (157 million dirhams), a medical-sports center in Rabat (16 million dirhams), and 21 tracks of synthetic surface in several cities across the Kingdom (283 million dirhams).
The Monarch was also briefed about the progress of the athletics tracks programme, notably the achievement in 2011 of 13 tracks in Al Haouz, Al Hoceima, Berkane, Benguerir, Benslimane, Dakhla, Errachdia, Fez, Guelmim, Khenifra, Safi, Tifelt and Boujaad.
As for the athletics tracks of Sidi Kacem and Martil they are on the way to be completed.
The same programme provides for the achievement of six athletics tracks in Taroudant, Casablanca, Kenitra, Salé, Tangier and Taza.
The programme is devised to enhance athletics facilities across the Kingdom with a view to offering the youth a venue to practice different sports.
HM the King also inaugurated an athletics track in Ait Kamra, whose development amounted to 19.5 million dirhams.
Stretching over an area of 3.3 hectares, the project is part of efforts to upgrade sports infrastructure in the province of Al Hoceima.
On this occasion, President of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation, Abdeslam Ahizoune, handed the Monarch a souvenir trophy of the Mohammed VI international athletics meeting, part of the IAAF World Challenge.
HM the King inaugurates first phase of economic activity zone in Ait karma Commune
HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated on Saturday the first phase of the economic activity zone in the Commune of Ait Kamra (norther province of Al Hoceima), to be achieved for a total cost of 170 million dirhams.
- The project will draw over 1.35 billion dirhams and will generate 3000 jobs.
The zone spans over an area of 41 hectares of which 27 hectares will be developed as part of the first phase.
The economic activity zone in the Commune of Ait Kamra is designed to foster local small and medium sized enterprises and industries, organize the agri-food industry, services and building and civic engineering as well as to develop the province’ handicrafts industry and logistics.
Part of the national strategy to promote the industry sector, the Emergency Plan, this economic activity zone will attract investments worth over 1.35 billion dirhams and will spawn around 3000 job opportunities, of which 2000 are direct jobs.
The zone is conceived to be an integrated provincial platform including several areas. In this respect, an industrial area will be developed to promote the agri-food industry, local products and diverse industries.
The zone, 20 minutes away from Al Hoceima, also includes areas for handicrafts, commerce and logistics as well as banks, facility management and a business center.
HM the King chairs signing ceremony of agreement on urban upgrading of Imzouren municipality
HM King Mohammed VI presided, on Friday in the municipality of Imzouren (Province of Al Hoceima), over the signing ceremony of an agreement on a four-year programme providing for the urban upgrading of the northern municipality for a total cost exceeding 581 million dirhams.
- A four-year programme (2011-2014) designed to meet the needs in local facilities, reinforce social services and enhance urban landscape,
- The Sovereign lays foundation stone of a village for artisans in Imzouren, worth 16 million dirhams.
The four-year programme (2011-2014) aims at meeting the needs in terms of local facilities, developing economic activities, reinforcing social services, enhancing the urban landscape, improving traffic, and protecting the municipality from floods.
Under the programme, which is designed to benefit 30,000 people, several emergency measures will be taken, such as widening the rivers of El Maleh and Laathmanane, opening, building and developing structural axes and upgrading the neighbourhoods of Hay Tanawi and Hay Al Masjid ( 1400 households).
The programme also provides for works on the water supply system, improving public lighting, sewage system and roads in addition to building local facilities, refurbishing façades and developing the industrial area.
Several medium term measures will also be taken within the framework of the same programme. In this respect, a strategic vision will be devised with the aim of integrating a part of the irrigated area to the urban sphere as well as adopting an urban development plan to fill the deficit in local facilities, decongest the urban area and facilitate urban transportation.
The agreement was signed by the Ministries of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Housing, Health, Education, Youth and Sports, and Industry, Trade and New Technologies.
It was also signed by State Secretary in charge of Handicrafts, State Secretary to the Interior Ministry, Directror of the drinking water and electricity national utility, Director General of the investments promotion agency in the northern provinces, Director of the Loukkos hydrolique basin, and the President of the urban commune of Imzouren.
On this occasion, HM the King laid the foundation stone of a village for artisans, to be built for a total cost of 16 million dirhams.
Stretching over an area of 2,700 square meters, the new facility will offer a venue providing working conditions for craftsmen to improve their revenues through increasing their sales.
It is also designed to provide training to the youth in several jobs.
The artisans' village, to be completed in 12 months, will house 52 shops in addition to offices, a prayer hall, a refreshment area, an infirmary and exhibition halls.
