HM the King inaugurates in Mediouna female student house.

Sidi Hajjaj Oued Hassar (Mediouna province)  -  HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated, on Saturday in the rural commune of Sidi Hajjaj Oued Hassar in the province of Mediouna (90 km southern Rabat), a female student house (Dar Attaliba), carried out as part of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) for a total investment of 7.4 million dirhams.
 
24 December 2011- A new area for reception, support and development of the region’s rural girls in school.

    The Sovereign toured through the various structures and dependencies of the institution whose achievement reflects the high royal solicitude toward disadvantaged groups, especially young people expected to participate actively in the development of their society.

    With a capacity to host 88 girls, the new facility will be an area for reception, support and development of the rural girls in school, with the aim to fight against the school dropout in the rural areas.

    Built on a total area of 2617 m2, the project includes several dormitories, two rooms for teachers, library, computer room, tutoring room, a multipurpose room, a dining hall, kitchen, laundry, infirmary and an a residence for the staff.

HM the King presides in Casablanca over ‘Tarik Ibn Ziyad’ frigate introduction ceremony.

Casablanca  -  HM King Mohammed VI Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, presided, on Friday in the military port of Casablanca, over the introduction ceremony of the “Tarik Ibn Ziyad” frigate recently acquired by the Royal Navy.
 
23 December 2011- A multi-mission frigate equipped with state-of-the-art technologies.

    On this occasion, HM the King visited the various facilities of the multi-mission frigate, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, meant to serve in scientific missions, international cooperation and the fight against illegal immigration and drug trafficking as well as any other illegal activities in Morocco’s territorial waters.

    The Monarch was also briefed on the characteristics and operational capacities of the frigate such as the information and weapons sensors in addition to the helicopter decks.

    The 105-meter long Sigma frigate measures 13 meters in width. It can carry up to 2,600 tonnes and host 110 individuals.

    The new ship can reach a speed of 26 knots and can cruise 4,000 nauticals with a 18-knot speed.


    Built in the Netherlands by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, the Tarik Ibn Ziyad frigate is equipped with anti-ship missiles, a short range surface to air defense system and two torpedo tubes.

    The frigate is also designed to navigate in adverse weather conditions and counter ground targets, planes and other ships.

    At the end of his visit HM the King signed the Golden book of the Tarik Ibn Ziyad frigate.
