HM the King launches construction works of Berrechid-Béni Mellal motorway

HM King Mohammed VI launched on Monday in the Commune of Ouled Yaich (Province of Béni Mellal) the construction works of a 172km-long motorway linking Berrechid to Béni Mellal.

On this occasion, HM the King was given details on the 6.05 billion dirhams (some $734 mln) project that is meant to promote the socio-economic development in the Tadla-Azilal region and other regions linked by the motorway.

The Berrechid-Béni Mellal motorway, to be completed by the end of June 2013, will bring closer phosphate-rich areas to the main economic hubs of the kingdom.

The project is funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the government of the People's Republic of China.
