HM the King launches plantation project of 1 million palm trees in Tafilalet oases
HM King Mohammed VI launched, on Tuesday in the Sifa commune (Errachidia province), the project of planting one million palm trees in the Tafilalet oases by 2015, worth 1,25 billion dirhams ($163 million).

The project, part of Morocco’s agriculture development plan “Green Plan”, will benefit 6000 farmers, help create 450 000 working days and raise production from 26 000 tonnes in 2010 to 95 000 tonnes by 2030.
This project will contribute to extending the palm grove areas, introducing 750 000 in-vitro plants and setting up a nursery for the production of in-vitro plants.
The monarch was provided with details on an integrated programme to promote ecological cultivation in the El Jorf oasis (province of Errachidia), worth 1,51 million dirhams.
The programme, to benefit 216 farmers, aims at improving beneficiaries’ incomes, creating 40 stable jobs and promoting rational exploitation of natural resources.
The monarch also followed a presentation of the programme of developing dates and derivatives, worth 520,000 dirhams.
Subsequently, the sovereign handed agricultural equipment to develop palm production in the region to improve farmers’ incomes.
