HM the King launches the construction of Dar Khrofa dam
HM King Mohammed VI launched, on Tuesday in the rural commune of Zaaroura (in the northern province of Larache), the building works of Dar Khrofa dam for a total amount of 800 million dirhams ($ 98.3 mln).

The project is meant to provide drinking water to the local population in 16 rural communes, irrigate an area of 18,000 hectares and contribute to the protection of Loukkos plain from floods.
The dam, whose storage capacity will amount to 480 million m3, will be built in 48 months.
The project, which will be financed by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the State budget, will increase agricultural output and help create 3,000 jobs.
On the same occasion, the Sovereign enquired about several drinking water projects dedicated to the city of Tangier (1.57 billion dirhams). These projects are meant to provide drinking water for some 1,025 million people in the region by 2030.
HM the King also enquired about fruit-growing projects dedicated to Tangier-Tetouan and Taza-Taounat-Al Hoceima regions. The projects cover an area of 10,000 hectares and benefit some 11,808 farmers.
