HM the King lays foundation stone of Technology Institute in Fnideq

HM King Mohammed VI laid, on Wednesday in the northern city of Fnideq, the foundation stone of an Applied Technology Specialized Institute for an amount of 23 million dirhams ($2.7mln).

The project, meant to step up youth integration in active life, will be carried out by the Office of Vocational Training and the Promotion of Labor (OFPPT).

The new institute, part of the economic and social upgrading programme set for the northern region, is due to open doors in September 2011 and is expected to seat 700 people per year.

It will offer training notably in enterprise management, computer networks, accountancy, secretarial work and office automation.

The establishment, to be built over 3,000m², will comprise mainly five classrooms, seven workshops, an administration block, and an IT room.

The Sovereign followed a presentation on the project of a boarding school for Tamuda Bay Tourism and Hotel Institute (M'diq) worth 34 million dirhams.

The new project, expected to host 200 students, will ensure accommodation for trainees from remote zones. The facility will stretch over 4,280 m² and will include separate dormitories for boys and girls.
