HM the King lays foundation stone of new headquarters of Supreme Council of Ulema

HM King Mohammed VI laid, on Saturday in Rabat, the foundation stone for the construction of the new headquarters of the Supreme Council of Ulema (CSO) and the Royal Institute for Research on the history of Morocco (IRRHM), worth 93.6 million dirhams ($ 10 mln).

To be built on an area of 8550 square meters, CSO headquarters will include a royal pavilion, reception area, conference room, meeting room, library, reading room and an administrative block.
As for IRRHM's headquarters, it will consist, among others, of a lobby, exhibit space, conference room, meeting room, reading room, and a library.
Created on October 11, 2005 on the orders of HM King Mohammed VI, the Royal Institute for Research on the history of Morocco is under the authority of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.
It aims at encouraging research on Morocco's history and promoting knowledge of its near and distant past in order to consolidate the Moroccan identity and strengthen the collective memory.

HM the King presides over first religious lecture

Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ismail, presided, on Saturday at the royal palace in Rabat, over the first religious lecture of the holy month of Ramadan.

The lecture was given by Moroccan Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, on "The religious discourse, its bases and its manifestations."

The lecturer was inspired by the Koranic verse: “It is He Who has sent amongst the Unlettered a messenger from among themselves, to rehearse to them His Signs, to sanctify them, and to instruct them in Scripture and Wisdom,- although they had been, before, in manifest error.”
Taoufiq underlined that the religious discourse required compliance with the standards and rules to keep out of the unfair and biased interpretations that could fuel the discord within the community and decline a correct religious approach.

He added that any religious discourse should be understood with reference to the related-Koranic verse in order to purify the souls of the faithful and ensure sound application of the Koranic message in all its manifestations.
This task was accomplished by the Messenger of God in an exemplary manner so that it constituted a model for his successors who better-managed the community’s religious affairs and were able to put words into action to convey properly the divine message, said Taoufiq.
The lecturer also underscored that the role of the Commander of the Faithful is mainly to ensure the moral and spiritual tranquillity of the faithful and promote justice and equity.
