HM the King pardons 190 prisoners in response to CNDH's Memorandum- Justice Ministry

Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, granted pardon to 190 prisoners in response to a memorandum submitted to His Majesty by the President and the Secretary General of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Justice Ministry said on Thursday in a statement.
In this respect, 96 prisoners benefited from a pardon over their remaining prison term, while 5 prisoners were granted commutation of their death sentences to prison term.

Thirty-seven prisoners benefited from the commutation of their life sentences to prison term and 52 prisoners had their prison sentence reduced.

HM the King sends condolence message to Saudi king on death of his sister
Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI sent a condolence and compassion message to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud, following the death of his sister Satya Bent Abdelaziz Ben Abderrahmane Al Saud.

    In the message, HM the king expressed to the Saudi King and all members of the Royal family his heartfelt condolences and sincere feelings of compassion and sympathy, praying God to grant them comfort and patience.

    The Monarch also implored the Almighty to preserve the venerable Saudi Royal Family and grant the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques health, tranquility, long live as well as assistance in his wise guidance of the brotherly Saudi people towards further progress and prosperity.

HM the King receives President of Competition Council

HM King Mohammed VI received, on Monday at the Royal Palace in Rabat, President of the Competition Council, Abdelali Benamour.

  During this audience, HM the King reaffirmed his keen interest in reinforcing the important role played by this institution to promote the rule of law in the area of business, upgrade and modernize the economy and consolidate its competitiveness and its capacity to attract productive investments that are likely to spur growth, create jobs and provide decent living conditions for citizens, especially for the youth, says a statement of the Royal Cabinet.    

    Praising Benamour's efforts since his appointment at the helm of this institution, HM the King stressed the importance of the optimal functioning of the Council to enable it to accomplish its missions, mainly in terms of supervising economic concentrations, creating favorable climate to fair competition, free enterprise, equal opportunities, combating rent-seeking and all forms of monopoly and unjustified privileges, within the framework of a coherent institutional system of good economic governance.

    In this regard, HM the King gave his instructions to the government to revise the legal framework governing this institution towards strengthening its autonomy and expanding its powers and providing it with the necessary human and material resources and efficient legal mechanisms it needs to better carry out its missions.

    The ultimate goal is for this institution to be a full-fledged body as part of the profound institutional reforms launched by HM the King in his speech to the nation on March 9, 2011.

HM the King sends message to Chinese President

Beijing - Chinese Vice-President, Xi Jinping, received on Monday in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Moroccan Foreign Minister, Taib Fassi Fihri, carrying a written message from HM King Mohammed VI to Chinese President Hu Jintao.
    The royal message is part of the traditional and solid relations between the two countries, Fassi Fihri told MAP.

    In this message, the Sovereign highlights the potential of bilateral cooperation at the economic and social levels, the Minister added.

    He also said that his meeting with the Chinese official was an opportunity to exchange views on many issues including the situation in some Arab and African countries.

    For his part, Xi Jinping expressed his country's interest in developing relations with Morocco, taking advantage of the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
