HM the King talks over the phone with Ban Ki Moon

Marrakech - HM King Mohammed VI had, on Saturday, a phone conversation with Ban Ki Moon, UN Secretary-General, mainly on the crisis in Libya.
    The Sovereing and the UNSG shared ideas on Libya's tragic evolution over the past few weeks and its heavy toll of casualties and displaced people, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said.

    HM the King and Ban Kin Moon assessed decisions made by the UN, particularly the resolution adopted on February 26 by the UN Security Council which comdemns violence and the use of force against civilians and provides for penalties, including an arms embargo, a travel ban, assets freeze and the submission of the case to the International Criminal Court. 

    The UNSG thanked the Sovereign for the humanitarian action at Ras Jdir, few kilometers from the Tunisian-Libyan border, and the health care provided by the medical team for refugees.

    Ban Ki Moon paid tribute to efforts made by the Moroccan authorities through the air and sea repatriation operation benefitting not only Moroccans, but also 200 people from Sub-Saharan Africa who could not exit the Libyan territory without this support and solidarity-based action by the Kingdom of Morocco.

HM the King receives Secretary General of International Maritime Organization

Marrakech - HM King Mohammed VI received, on Saturday at the Royal Palace of Marrakech, Efthimios Mitropoulos, Secrectary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a UN's specialized agency.

    The audience was attended by Karim Ghellab, Equipment and Transport Minister.
