HM the King visits pilot olive oil production unit in Fquih Ben Salah
HM King Mohammed VI visited on Monday a pilot olive oil production farm in the Fquih Ben Salah (central Morocco), set up for 164 million dirhams (about $ 20 million).

On this occasion, the Sovereign was given detailed information on this environment-friendly project which respects international standards and the various techniques used for producing high quality extra-virgin oil, a very popular product in the international market.

This 820-ha farm includes pumping and spraying station, weather station and various other administrative facilities.

This pilot project will help create over 330 jobs, boost annual olive production by 9,000 tones and increase olive oil output to over 1,620 tones. It also includes extra-virgin oil extraction unit which will produce up to 360 tons/day, to be exported to the international market.

This project, which combines high-tech irrigation techniques with sustainable and rational use of water, is part of the agriculture development plan dubbed "the Green Plan", aiming to modernize Morocco's agriculture sector.

The Plan offers various subsidies to encourage investors with know-how and expertise to play a role in upgrading the farming sector. It also seeks to increase the contribution of the farming sector to the GDP through expanding aid to farmers and offering incentives to investors.
