The centre, which is expected to provide healthcare for an average of 8,000 women per year, includes six check-up rooms, three for breast cancer and three for cervical cancer, and a surgical unit.
The screening programme will concern around 80,000 women aged between 30 and 70 in the Meknes-Tafilalet region.
The programme is a priority strategic component of the national plan for the prevention and control of cancer, given that these two cancers are widespread with a rate of 50% of cancers.
It aims at improving early care for patients and, therefore, reducing morbidity and mortality related to these cancers.
In this regard, 430 health professionals, including 155 doctors, will be trained to the latest cancer screening and diagnosis technologies, as part of a partnership between the Lalla Salma Association for the Fight against Cancer, the Health Ministry and the United Nations Population Fund.
