  Rabat

Istiqlal Party's stand mirrors opinion of all Moroccans on Sebta and Melilia, Govt. spokesperson
Communications Minister and Government Spokesperson. The stand of the Istiqlal Party (ruling party), concerning the visit by the president of the Spanish Popular Party (PP) to the Spanish-occupied cities of Sebta and Melilia, reflects the opinion and the feelings of all Moroccans on the situation of the two cities, said, on Thursday in Rabat, Communications Minister and Government Spokesperson.

It is a "unanimous stance" by over 33 million Moroccans who, like the government, institutions and political parties, think that it is necessary to reach an understanding on the issue of the two occupied cities in a way that preserves mutual interests, Khalid Naciri said following the weekly cabinet meeting.

The government follows this issue through the different institutions and the Foreign Ministry, he said, noting that the two countries' governments are managing their relations "in a spirit of positivity" with the aim of establishing a win-win partnership.

The Istiqlal party said, in a letter sent by its secretary general Abbas El Fassi to president of PP Mariano Rajoy, that it rejected this visit regardless of its causes and aims, because it "hurts the national dignity and feelings".
