Speaking at the opening of the Committee's constitutive meeting, Radi underlined that this newly-established body of dialogue between European and Moroccan parliaments is "a huge leap forward in the history of parliamentary relations."
He said that this Committee proves Morocco's resolute and irreversible commitment to modernity and development and shows that the Kingdom upholds the values of democracy and the rule of law.
He added that the advanced status granted to Morocco in 2008 is a recognition of the country's efforts and a sign of confidence in its future.
Parliamentary institutions should shoulder their responsibilities in order to avert obstacles and anticipate difficulties that might face them, he said.
The Joint Committee should be not only a body for the promotion of the Euro-Moroccan partnership's democratic legitimacy, but also a dynamic follow-up instrument based on an open and permanent dialogue between Moroccan and European representatives, he added.
