"I assess that Morocco's recent autonomy plan, welcomed by the UN as a serious and credible proposal, is a reasonable and responsible step," Lord Janner told MAP news agency.
He added that the autonomy plan should be a part and parcel of the process meant to find a political solution to the issue.
Lord Janner also touched on the reform and development efforts made by Morocco, stressing that "Morocco is manifestly a vibrant country, undergoing a process of rapid and dramatic reform." He cited, in this connection the "laudable regionalisation efforts".
"I view these reforms with tremendous enthusiasm, and they are evidence of Morocco's uniqueness in the Arab World," he said in reference to the reforms ushered in economic, political, cultural and social realms.
"I am confident that my Government will continue to support Morocco in its endeavours," he said.
"Much work remains to be done in building up economic cooperation between our two great countries," he said, calling for capitalising on the great opportunities offered to lift up this cooperation to the expected levels.
The member of the House of Lords noted that the recent EU-Morocco summit, held in Spain "is evidence of genuine mutual respect and shared values."
"Morocco is an invaluable ally to the EU," he added, stressing that the Granada Summit was "an opportunity for Europe to reaffirm its support and pride in Morocco’s development."
