Mexico says status quo in Sahara 'unacceptable'
Mexico's Permanent Representative to the UN office in New York, Claude Heller Mexico's Permanent Representative to the UN office in New York, Claude Heller, described, on Thursday in New York, as "unacceptable" the status quo over the Sahara issue, reiterating his country's support for the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, Christopher Ross, to move the negotiation process forward.

"It is obvious that the deadlock is unacceptable. The status quo is unacceptable", the ambassador stressed during a press conference, following Mexico's two-year mandate at the Security Council as a non-permanent member.

Heller said his country supports the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his representative, Christopher Ross, aiming to move the negotiation process forward.

"There should be a progress" in order to solve this issue, he underlined, stressing Mexico's total support for the MINURSO and the role of the UN and the SG Personal Envoy for the Sahara.
