Speaking at the opening of the third MEDays International Forum, held under the High patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, Fassi Fihri stressed the need to strengthen the North-South dialogue and international solidarity at this juncture marked by the adverse effects of global financial and economic crisis that have touched the overwhelming majority of both developed and developing countries.
The Minister added that the importance attached by Morocco to developing its relations with African countries is part of a strategic partnership based on mutual respect, a common history and shared responsibility.
For his part, Colombian Vice-President, Angelino Garzon, called for the strengthening of international solidarity to address climate change and natural disasters, saying that the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) cannot be achieved without the cooperation and support of northern countries.
The third MEDays Forum will discuss several issues relating to climate challenges and sustainable development, governance, human rights and institutional reforms.
It is bringing together policy makers, entrepreneurs, researchers and social activists from over 80 countries.
