Moroccan health card, a basic social reform, PM

The setting up of a health card in Morocco is a basic social reform to improve citizens' access to health services, Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi said Monday in Rabat.

The need to sketch out this card is meant to facilitate access to healthcare services, El Fassi underlined at the National Forum on the health card, held March 1-3.

The new health card is part of an institutional reform to implement the extensive regionalization launched by HM King Mohammed VI last January.

Morocco is committed to the values of solidarity and equality in dealing with health issues and endeavours to guarantee its citizens the right of access to healthcare, the Prime minister added.

For her part, Health minister Yasmina Baddou said the sketching out of the health card aims at improving health services.

The new health reform includes a set of mechanisms that secures complementarity between public and private sectors and rationalize investments in health sector.

This three-day forum is attended by representatives of legislative bodies, government departments, and national organizations.
