During a Moroccan-European civil society seminar on the freedom of the press, Landaburu said that Morocco's relations with the EU are based on trust, underscoring that these values and principles enabled Morocco to be the first southern Mediterranean country to be granted an "advanced status" with the EU.
The European diplomat lauded Morocco's ambitious policy which allowed for broadening the scope of freedom over the last decade, saying that the EU supports this "positive trend."
He voiced the EU's will to support Morocco in promoting its achievements and rising to the challenges it faces, while enabling it to benefit of the EU's experience to further progress in the field of liberties.
The meeting, which was initiated by the EU delegation to Morocco, aims to establish a constructive exchange of viewpoints among participants on the challenges and potential of the Moroccan press.
It also aspires to examine the European and international practices and standards in four fields related to the freedom of the press and come up with recommendations to promote freedom of the press.
