In an atmosphere livened up with Moroccan music, the participants in the ceremony toured the various halls of the Kingdom's pavillon, whose completion took over one year of hard work by Moroccan craftsmen.
The official ceremony was marked by addresses delivered by heads of the Moroccan and Chinese delegations, Lower House Speaker, Abdelouahed Radi and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shanghai People's Congress, Liu Yungeng, respectively.
 Radi said Morocco's participation in this world event is a "new milestone" in the history of the longstanding Moroccan-Chinese relations, expressing optimism regarding future prospects.
 The seven centuries old bilateral relations date back to Ibn Batouta's journey to China, who recounted to his countrymen and to the whole Muslim and Arab world the marvelous aspects of the Chinese civilization, Radi said.
 After gaining independence, Morocco endeavored to establish fruitful diplomatic relations with the Asian country, said Radi, who leads a Moroccan delegation to the universal exhibition including, notably Foreign Minister, Taib Fassi Fihri and Tourism Minister Yassir Znagui.

Stretching over an area of 4000 square meters, the Moroccan pavilion was built according to an eclectic original architecture ornamented with breathtaking calligraphy that reflects the Kingdom's long, rich and diversified history.
 The pavilion halls showcase the dedicated Art of Living in Moroccan cities (culinary art, customs and housing), introduce audiovisual technical means, the richness of Morocco's cultural heritage and handicrafts, and exhibit the Kingdom's achievements in several fields.
 Dubbed "the palace of one thousand and one nights" by the Chinese media, the pavilion is witnessing a huge turnout, with over 6000 visitors per day. Held under the theme Better city, better life", Shaghai world Expo runs from Mai1 to October 31 with the participation of 192 countries and 50 international organizations.
