Speaking at a debate held by the "Marocains pluriels" association and attended by figures representing the three monotheist religions, Azoulay regretted the regressive and suspicious responses to the false debate on the construction of a mosque near Ground Zero, scene of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
He added that this event which musters all the components of society mirrors, in an enlightening way, a centuries-old Morocco, a land of peace, tolerance and freedom.
Azoulay stressed that this meeting seeks to promote the values of coexistence, respect for others, openness and dialogue, while showing the Kingdom's civilizational fundamentals and cultural identity.
He recalled that Morocco is very attached to promoting and defending the higher values of humanity, underlining that this attachment is deeply-rooted in the culture of otherness which succeeded in resisting, outside and inside, the vicissitudes and temptations of identity and spiritual divisions.
